system. In the event of a server failure, the other server in the
cluster is able to take over running the application(s) on the failed
server.

a LAN in the Apapa Head office and Wide Area Network links using a mixture
of dedicated Nitel lines , dial-up lines and spread spectrum radio technology.
High Frequency Radio Data Communication using radio modems was also
provided as a back-up for data-communication.
- Installation of wireless LAN using the Spread spectrum technology
and directional gain antennae to the two ports within the Lagos
Area and integration into the Main Novell Netware Server and the
Communication Server at the Headquarters.
- Installation & Maintenance of DELL Poweredge Servers, Optiplex
PC Workstation and Peripherals.
- Design and Development of an On-Line Maritime Database
Software for the computerisation of maritime operation to monitor
issuance of Form C, cargo allocation in all sea ports across
the country. The system automatically calculates freight charges
on all dry and wet cargoes and updates the customer ledger thus reducing
user errors usually associated with manual updates. The software
is based on Oracle7 relational database system using CDE2 Front-end
development tool.
- Installation and Implementation of CHAMELEON 2000 Accounting software.
The modules installed include the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable,
Accounts Payable, Cash Book, Fixed Assets, Inventory Control, Report
Writer and System Manager.
- Design and Implementation of Payroll System
using Oracle CDE2 development tools. The payroll software processes
the staff monthly payroll and generates management reports.
- Design
and Implementation of an On-Line Admin. & Personnel
Information System. The software keeps data on all personnel
and estates of the Authority and generates management
reports.
- User Training was
provided on various application and Network operations.
